I have been rather AWOL from my blog lately, mainly because Januarys' are always so busy for me with tax deadlines. Thankfully we are now in February and I am in full quilting mode again. This quilt was beautifully pieced by my customer Elaine made with some gorgeous Japanese floral fabrics, I love the contrast in this quilt. It was a complete joy to work with and it was nice to quilt a design "Lorien Flower" not yet chosen before, which quilted up very well over the large quilt. I actually quilted this back in December, where does the time fly by? Elaine chose a mauve/plum coloured thread which blended nicely accross the colours in the quilt. The main threads which I tend to stock and use are very subtle and light in texture, which do not tend to overpower the quilt. I do also use heavier threads of course if my customers prefer, but on the whole most of my customers love my current "thread stash" It even has a pieced backing, which adds even more interest to this gorgeous quilt. |
