J-Quilts blog

Busy busy busy.......

I can't quite believe that it has been over a month since my last blog post.  I have been a busy girl quilting customer quilts and have not had that much time to spare to blogging in this last month, and no time for piecing my quilt tops either except for my monthly day off at the local quilt group where I managed to cut out a strip quilt from a gorgeous moda fat quarter set called "Sophie" and I took a few hours Saturday morning to piece it up into squares.  It is rather a simple random design not quite as initially planned, but I love quilts that come together like that.  I rarely work from a pattern and just kind of go with it !!!
However, things are now a little calmer as I have been working hard to get customer quilts finished.  I am going to be working on a beautiful customer appliqued quilt this week which is a custom quilting job giving a different quilting treatment to each block and sashing, which takes longer to quilt than a pantograph design.  I am looking forward to working on the quilt, it is so beautifully appliqued and pieced.  If my customer later gives me permission to post photographs of the finished quilt, I will post later about it.  It is a special quilt for a special birthday - so no pressure then !!!
This gorgeous October weather is a pleasant surprise and we took advantage of it yesterday with a trip to the coast, which was so busy, yet peaceful, it was quite surreal.  Unfortunately it seemed that half of Essex also took the same trip and the drive back was stop start in a huge traffic jam.  Not relaxing at all.....
I have been a little lacking in time for photography this month too - but I will try and get some photos of quilts recently finished to post in the next few days.
