J-Quilts blog

Well here I go with my new blog.  Just to let you have some insight into my quilting life and the projects I have been and will be working on.   Now bare with me, as this is my first blog, and I am no writer let me tell you !
Having recently turned 40 and as they say "life begins at 40" since this milestone in my life, I have given up my part time accountancy employment,  (Is this a mid life crisis you  may ask???)  and taken on more quilting clients which is alot more enjoyable for me.    As I have been a patchwork and quilting addict for some time, I have dreamt of a log cabin studio in our garden for a dedicated quilting space for a while and am always "going on about it" much to my families dismay !!  Anyway, my lovely husband commissioned this gorgeous patchwork cabin cake which was made by a friend he works with.   Isn't it beautiful !!  such detail and for someone not so knowledgable in patchwork, I think she did a stunning job !!!  I was so chuffed with it - I could barely dare to cut it, although when I finally did, it tasted just as gorgeous as it looks !
(Although somehow, I feel this may be the closest I get to a real live cabin!!!)

Hello Janette, love your blog, I really, really know how you feel about quilting and patchwork. I can so sympathise with the wanting of a cabin, after all, they look so nice. I did see on Taylors garden buildings website, a beach hut for sale, about fourteen hundred pounds. Obviously, much smaller than a cabin, but strongly made and weather proof and oh yes, cheaper lol. What do you think? I imagine its strong enough to put stuff on the wall so that might help with the lack of floor space? I am seriously thinking about it. Incidently, I am into fleece backed patchwork tops, using buttons to attach top to bottom layers, rather than the fully fledged quilting, because I am a very new convert to this lark and haven't got much experience. I found you on yell.com whilst looking for wholesale fabrics. I might consider at a later date, requesting your long arm services, we will have to see how it goes. All the very best for a merry christmas and happy new year, Judith
