Sometimes it is hard separating home quilting from work quilting without feeling guilty that I have customer quilts to load next, but after reminding myself that it was an evening after all, I happily made myself a laptop cover - it has been a while since making small projects as I have been busy with larger quilts. However, I did manage to kill two birds with one stone testing out some isacord threads just received, which were recommended to me by a fellow longarm quilter who uses it regularly and loves it. After some initial tension issues, I managed to balance the tension to the way I like and it did quilt up beautifully with no problems. The colour thread that I chose actually looked quite mustard on the cone, but is actually very golden on the fabric and blends nicely. I didn't put too much thought into the fabric choice on this project actually, and the green fabric was too hand and the first fat quarter storage box which I looked in had this lovely sewing accessory fabric, which fit my mood at the time. So two fat quarters were then very quickly freehand quilted in swirls allover and then cut down to size, with the straps added. I then curved the corners, and bound it all around with bias binding.
I did get rather carried away with my thread order to add to my existing stash !!! I am like a child in a sweet shop with shade cards!!
Looking forward to using these in future quilts.
